HOYA GROWING AND CARE TIPS:

hoya

With the right light, temperature, and watering, your hoya plants should thrive and give you the beautiful blooms you expect.

CUTTING:
Use a cutting with 2-3 leaf nodes. Remove the leaves from the bottom node. Dust the end with a rooting hormone power. Bury in a good potting mix. I prefer a mix of perlite, vermiculite and sphagnum peat moss. Water thoroughly and let the soil dry out before watering again.
INSECTS:
Hoya plants are susceptible to mealy bugs, spider mites, scale, whitefly and aphids--spray with an insecticidal soap.
LIGHTING:
Bright indirect light. They can be grown indoors in a brightly lit window or outside away from direct sun. You might have to move the plant until it finds its own perfect spot.
HUMIDITY:
Hoya's will tolerate humidity without harm
FERTILIZE:
Hoyas are light feeders. Fertilize once a month with a balanced fertilizer such as 20-20-20. Discontinue in the winter.
TEMPERATURE:
THEY DO NOT LIKE THE COLD. I HAVE LEARNED THAT IF IT DROPS BELOW 40 DEGREES--BRING IT IN!!
PRUNING:
Prune anytime growth is excessive, or after the flowering cycle is complete. They bloom on new growth, so be careful.
